Caralynne Hayman is angry and bitter over the abuse and death of her eleven-year-old daughter at the hands of a radical religious cult—The Children of Righteous Cain. So when her husband, a founding member of the cult, suffers a massive heart attack, Caralynne stands by while her husband dies.
Caralynne’s secret seems safe until Dayne MacFarland returns. Determined to learn the truth about the cult, his investigation, and his rekindled love for Caralynne, lead the pair toward a confrontation with the group’s elders.
Can Dayne’s love for Caralynne bridge the gulf of anger and bitterness that divides the community? Or will Caralynne’s deadly secrets prove too high a price for her redemption?
Carole Brown wasted no time in pulling me into Caralynne Hayman s nightmare. This fast paced novel burrows into the distorted world of Elder Simmons and his cult The Children of Righteous Cain. Carole did a splendid job of developing characters and scenes that gripped my mind and my heart. As much as I want to believe that Cara s world is pure fiction, I know that such as world exists. –Tom Blubaugh, Author of Night of the Cossack
What would you do if freedom and imprisonment were separated by only a breath? Ms. Carole Brown explores the very real question of a battered wife and her choices between right and wrong. She handles some extremely difficult issues with skill and just as the title, The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman suggests, Ms. Browne writes a lovely and rich story of redemption. If you or someone you know has been through abuse in marriage or as a child, this book will offer healing and comfort. You are valuable and this book is one of affirmation for the woman who needs to know she is not alone. –Angela Breidenbach, author of A Healing Heart
Rarely does a Christian book come along with such raw honesty as Carole Brown’s The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman. Written with compassion and sensitivity for abused women, Brown speaks to the heart that has been embittered by abuse and the hope that is found in Christ who died to set the prisoner free. An excellent debut novel. Can’t wait for the next one. –Linda Wood Rondeau, author of The Other Side of Darkness, It Really is a Wonderful Life, and winner of the coveted Selah Award
