Courtship in Crisis: The Case for Traditional Dating

Courtship in Crisis: The Case for Traditional Dating

The Experiment Failed
In the 1990s, a huge movement swept through America. Millions of young people stopped dating and embraced something new called “courtship” which promised to usher singles into marriage while avoiding the dangers of dating. It sounded wonderful.

The problem? It didn’t work.
The resulting singleness epidemic left a generation with broken hearts and little hope.

There’s Another Way
In Courtship In Crisis, Thomas Umstattd Jr. explains where the courtship crisis came from, and why it failed. More importantly, he lays out an alternative model that works.
“Courtship in Crisis is a well-reasoned, Spirit-infused breath of fresh air for anyone wanting to re-think their dating habits.”

A Silence in the Heart (Holmes Crossing Book 4)

It took a little boy, an injured kitten and an attractive veterinarian to knock down the walls of Tracy’s guarded heart.

Life was easier if you kept your heart safe and secure. She knows her boss, David Braun, is interested in her but she doesn’t dare open her heart again. That way lies pain and disappointment.

David Braun has been intrigued by Tracy ever since he started at the vet clinic. But she keeps him firmly at arm’s length. Then Kent and the injured kitten he found comes into her life and David sees a softness and protectiveness that calls to his lonely heart.

As the two of them work with Kent they grow closer and their relationship blooms. When Tracy discovers that Kent’s life mirrors her own, she wants to take Kent into her own home and seeks David’s support. And right then, as if on cue, her mother comes stumbling back into her life.

A Silence in the Heart is a compelling romance about past and present, loss and forgiveness and hard choices.

From the Author
One day a little boy walked into my thoughts. He was wearing ragged clothes, his hair was a tangled mop and he was holding an injured kitten. I wondered what had happened to him and where he found the kitten?

From that came A Silence in the Heart. This is a romance and I know I probably should have started out with the hero and heroine but Kent, the little boy, plays a large part in the story. He’s the catalyst for David and Tracy to spend time together as they try to help him. He helps Tracy lower the barriers she’s placed around her heart after having it broken by a mother who disappointed her once too many times and a ex-fiancee who was ashamed of Tracy’s background. But as Tracy lets David get close she finds out about his previous girlfriend and how perfect she was. And Tracy wonders if she dares let David find out about her own past. And her mother.
A Silence in the Heart was put out previously by Harlequin Love Inspired and when I got the rights back to the story, I updated it and rewrote it to make it fit into my Holmes Crossing setting.
I hope you enjoy reading David and Tracy’s story and your time spent back in Holmes Crossing.

PILGRIMAGE OF PROMISE (A Miller’s Creek Novel Book 4)

PILGRIMAGE OF PROMISE (A Miller’s Creek Novel Book 4)

From this bestselling page turner series comes a Christian contemporary romance novel reminiscent of the writings of Karen Kingsbury and Nicholas Sparks–a poignant love story about long-buried secrets, redeeming love, and the unfailing promises of God.

In this high school sweethearts romance, a small town girl has always believed her second chance rancher was the only man for her. But life intervened, their 1960s romance interrupted by college and the Vietnam War. Then sabotage and family pressure bring about hard choices and broken promises.

Now many years later, a dusty stack of unopened love letters and troubling diagnosis force the recently-reunited couple to sift through the painful past. Can their relationship endure the deception they unearth, or will the experience compel them to trust more fully in the promises that never fail?

“This epistolary novel combines a present-day reunion romance with a historical glimpse at the turbulent 1960s. You don’t want to miss this hope-filled and timeless feel good novel!”

Written with the feel of Mitford and Mayberry, readers have fallen in love with Miller’s Creek. Will you? Grab your copy of this rural romance today!

About the Author

Hi, I’m Alyce-Kay (Hanush) Ruckelshaus, founder of Threshold of Hineni. I’m passionately addicted to God, despite some pretty bad experiences in church. I’m a girl who is cherished by God, even though I tried to scare Him away. I’m ardent about helping you trust Him and discover that He wants to lavish you with His affection. If you have had experiences that should turn you off from God, but you still feel drawn toward Him … we need to talk. I met my husband, Bill, online in 2014 and we got married later that year. I’m a hot mess, but he’s totally crazy about me … and that gives me a ton of hope and joy. We currently live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland with two dogs and a cat. My greatest passion in life is to see people unleashed to be who God calls them to be. That’s what’s behind my teaching, my writing, etc. It’s why my heart drags me to broken people. Those of us who have been wounded and broken are the ones God mends and heals. He whispers His greatest dreams into our hearts. It’s the brokenness that makes us more pliable, once the brittleness is gone. And it’s the emptiness that enables us to be filled. About Threshold of Hineni: Hineni is a Hebrew word that means Here I am. I think of it in the sense of This is me, just as I am, with all my quirks and gifts and failures. I love that God accepts me that way. It also means, Here I am, send me, use me, in the sense of Abraham, Moses, and Isaiah being willing to go wherever God wants them to go and do whatever He wants them to do. It’s been my lifetime prayer, as well. A threshold is what you cross when you go through a doorway. It means that you’re entering or exiting … perhaps coming home after a long day … or heading out into a fresh adventure. It smells of home fires and comfort and healing. It also affirms a new beginning. My dream and my prayer is to be instrumental in helping people come to the Threshold of Hineni. The prayer I pray as I work is always that my readers and the recipients of my artwork would grow closer to God and know Him well enough to follow Him wherever He takes them, to be able to stand on the threshold, whether going out or coming in, and say, “Hineni.” And just in case you were wondering … My Isaiah Cadre series is my first set of novels. They say you should write what you know, so the settings are various places I’ve lived. I got my bachelors in Religious Studies (emphasis in theology and Greek) from Westmont College in 1983.
A Life for Christ: What the Normal Christian Life Should Look Like by Dwight L. Moody

A Life for Christ: What the Normal Christian Life Should Look Like by Dwight L. Moody

It would be good that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them! – Numbers 11:29

In the church today, we have everything buttoned up perfectly. The music is flawless, the sermon well-prepared and smoothly delivered, and the grounds meticulously kept. People come on time and go home on time. But a fundamental element is missing. The business of church has undermined the individual’s need to truly live for Christ, so much so, that only a limited few are seeing their life impact the world.

Dwight L. Moody takes us deep into Scripture and paints a clear picture of what ought to be an individual’s life for Christ. The call for each Christian is to become an active member in the body of Christ. The motive is love for the Lord and our neighbor. The result will be the salvation of men, women, and children everywhere.
